Homework Policy
Fountain Schools recognizes that homework is an important extension of classroom learning and plays a valuable role in reinforcing knowledge, developing independent learning skills, and encouraging responsibility and self-discipline. Homework provides learners with opportunities to review concepts taught in class, practice new skills, and develop habits that contribute to academic success and lifelong learning.
The school is committed to assigning homework that is purposeful, meaningful, and appropriate to the age and developmental needs of learners. Homework should complement classroom instruction and support the educational objectives of the curriculum without creating unnecessary pressure or interfering with the overall well-being of learners.
Homework may include reading activities, practical assignments, research tasks, projects, revision exercises, creative activities, and other learning experiences designed to enhance understanding and encourage active participation in the learning process. Assignments should promote critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and the application of knowledge in meaningful ways.
Learners are encouraged to complete homework assignments responsibly and within the agreed timelines. Completing homework regularly helps learners develop time management skills, personal responsibility, independence, and confidence in their abilities. Learners are also encouraged to seek clarification from their teachers whenever they encounter challenges or require additional support.
Parents and guardians play an important role in supporting homework and independent learning. The school encourages parents to provide a suitable environment for study, encourage positive learning habits, monitor progress where appropriate, and motivate learners to take responsibility for their assignments. However, homework should remain the learner’s responsibility, and parental support should focus on guidance and encouragement rather than completing assignments on behalf of the child.
Teachers are responsible for providing clear instructions, appropriate guidance, and constructive feedback to support learner progress and understanding. Homework assignments should be communicated effectively and designed to contribute positively to the educational experience of learners.
Fountain Schools recognizes the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between academic responsibilities, family life, co-curricular participation, recreation, and adequate rest. Homework should therefore be reasonable in quantity and designed to support holistic learner development.
This Homework Policy may be reviewed and updated periodically to ensure continued effectiveness and alignment with educational requirements, best practices, and the school’s commitment to quality education.
